Homeoplasmine, a makeup bag must-have from fashion’s front lines.

The salve has a special little place in most famous make-up artists’ kits in this world, Tom Pecheux being one of them. A French apothecary staple that he keeps at the ready whether traveling to New York, Milan, or Paris, “it’s a nipple cream,” he simply explains. Frenchwomen realized that the magical salve that heals dry, cracked skin irritated from nursing worked equally well on dry patches located elsewhere, and the rest is history. I have heard so much about this cream that I was curious to try it. When I saw that it had become available on Amazon, I ordered it, to give it a try.

I have liked Biron products for a while, whether for their excellent homeopathic teething or cold remedies. It’s a good company, and with all the buzz I have heard about this cream, I had high expectations. The salve worked very well on the lips, staying put for a while because of its thick texture. It has a nice sheen to it that is more matte than high gloss, which extenuates the natural lip nicely. In general I prefer that look over a lipstick unless I go out.

On my hands, it was quiet thick, and I don’t like heavy anything sitting on my skin. So the verdict is it’s great for the lip, but maybe only for skin if you have really dry patches. However, it’s quite a large tube at 40g to be using on just for your lips, and that’s why I will stay loyal to my all-time favorite lip balm Baume de Rose by Terry (available here). Homeoplasmine is the less expensive unscented version of the Baume de Rose by Terry I guess you could say, but it’s never going to be exactly like it.
