It has been a crazy last couple of weeks, but hey, what would life be without some craziness? When it comes, it’s usually all at once, and this time I was also in the midst of traveling to LA. So sorry it’s been a while since my last post!
It started when we lost the nanny my family loved. It is nearly impossible to replace her because she had the magic touch of getting baby Lenox to sleep whenever, wherever. Finding a new nanny can be interesting task. How do you find that perfect person for your baby? Well, we thought we had found someone, but on her first day, when Lenox and I had to catch our flight to LA, she didn’t show up at 2 pm as planned so I could pack for the trip we had to leave for in three hours. When she didn’t show up, I called:
“Uhmmm, are you coming?!?!?!”
“Oh, I didn’t know we agreed to an exact time. I have to run an errand and get lunch, and then I can come.”
Are you kidding?! Trying to stay calm, ignoring the fact that I now had to pack with a teething baby, I told the nanny to come by so I could at least show her where all the doggy stuff is kept before running off to the airport. She came 20 minutes before I had to jet off, and while trying to fit all of mine and Lenox’s stuff into a suitcase and carry-on bags, I tried to explain to her what to do to doggysit.
While dealing with the frustration of a bad start with the new nanny, I also had to handle the “problem” of what outfits to take for me and Lenox since, as usual, I had overpacked. I mostly stuck to the same color family, white blazer, white tees, white knit, different jeans, and a million shoes to upgrade my outfits. That should work! (I hate packing – I should interview those models who seem to travel with only one suitcase to different cities always looking chic! How do they do that?!). At this point it’s worth mentioning that Rimowa makes the most amazing, lightweight, sturdy suitcases, which come in handy if you are a notorious overpacker like me. They look chic, last for years, and are lightweight, which matters nowadays with all the restrictions and airline fees for luggage. In a Rimowa case, the weight is basically what you pack!
The nanny disaster continued while we were in LA. She took the doggies out the first day as planned, but when I checked in with her via text to see how the second day went, she replied that she hadn’t made it over there yet (almost 4 hours later than planned!). Oh no, I did not want to know the situation of my amazing hardwood floor and my poor doggies! I texted her that this is not a situation I can work with and that she needs to be reliable. For now that should do, I thought to myself. I will deal with her later when I get back. Several more days into my trip I get a text message from her to say that she is quitting. WOW! Isn’t that a laugh?
At least Lenox and I had a great time in LA, which I’ll recap in the next post
Xx
